Investigative Journalism Program

The first call by the Objective for investigative journalism projects in Turkey was made in July 2013. 48 journalists responded with over 50 individual projects.



Niras and BBC Media Action launched the Objective Program in 2013 in Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey with a view to support individual journalists in their investigative work.
 
DANIDA (The Foreign Ministry of Denmark) funds for the program.
 
Currently, P24’s Yasemin Çongar is the Coordinator for the Southern region – Turkey, Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan – of the Objective.
 
The first call by the Objective for investigative journalism projects in Turkey was made in July 2013. 48 journalists responded with over 50 individual projects.
 
From among them, the international jury decided to support the following:
 
1) “Demanding One’s Right From the Other”: The Democratic Impact of Mass Movements and Protests by Belma Akçura.
 
2) Illegal Immigration in and via Turkey by Özgün Özçer.
 
3) The State’s Share in Illegal Narcotics by
Fırat Alkaç.
 
4) Child Prisoners in Turkey by Dilan Korkmaz.  
 
5) Clash of Cultures in the Aftermath of Gezi Protests and the Cultural Policy of the Turkish Government throughout the Last Decade by Özgür Duygu Durgun.
 
6) Turkish-Russian Intermarriages: From the “Natashas” to Mixed-Race Children by Hakan Aksay.
 
7) The Anti-Nuclear Energy Struggle in Turkey: “Act Two” by Filiz Yavuz Çakıcı.
 
8) The Impact of the LGBT Movement on Democratization in Turkey by Ahmet Güneş.
 
Currently, there is a rolling call for new investigative journalism projects. Applications can be made by email to EditorObjective1@gmail.com
