P24 looking for a project coordinator

Platform for Independent Journalism (P24) is looking for a project coordinator to support its trial monitoring and project management work. The project coordinator will be a part of the Expression Interrupted team, which has been working for the promotion and protection of media freedom and freedom of expression in Turkey since 2017, and will work at P24’s office in Istanbul.

Candidates for this position are expected to have following requirements:

• Excellent command of Turkish and English
• Excellent reporting, editing and translation skills
• Previous work experience in journalism or relevant civil society organizations
• Strong interest and familiarity with freedom of expression and the media issues
• Interest in current affairs and a good understanding of legislative, judicial and political environment affecting freedom of expression
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a team and independently on assigned tasks
• Attention to detail

The position will include the following tasks:

• Overseeing the trial monitoring work in coordination with the website editor, court reporter and commissioned reporters
• Overseeing the content production and the regular update of the Expression Interrupted website with new information
• Drafting/editing quarterly monitoring reports on media freedom
• Commissioning and editing journalistic work produced by website contributors
• Leading project management and administrative tasks, including preparation of project progress reports
• Management of social media accounts
• Organizing online and face-to-face events
