Turkish court orders to block access to Facebook pages for insulting Prophet Mohammad

26.01.2015
A local court in Ankara has ruled to block access to number of Facebook pages deemed insulting to the Prophet Mohammad, threatening to entirely block the whole social networking site if it does not comply, Reuters reported.
The decision by the Gölbaşı Office of Penal Court of Peace was release late on Jan. 25 within the framework of a probe being conducted by Prosecutor Harun Ceylan, the state-run Anadolu Agency said.
It was the latest move to crack down on material seen as offending religious sensibilities in Turkey.
Earlier this month, prosecutors launched an inquiry into Turkish daily Cumhuriyet which reprinted parts of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo in a show of solidarity, following an attack by Islamic militants on its offices in Paris.
